How to Create a Fail-Proof Online Course

If you're here it's because you want to share your expertise with the online world and create a profitable course. So, how do you know if your course is actually going to sell?

Creating an online course is about determining what type of transformative content is actually going reach someone to the point where they will want to buy it.

While you may be the best at what you can do, how do you know that you are giving someone what they really want?

In this article, I'm going to share How to Create a Fail Proof Online Course starting now.

Validate Your Course

Your course topic is one of the biggest decisions that you are going to make when creating your course. You may already have a topic in mind, right now, as you read. BUT, is that course topic going to sell?

The best way to ensure that you have chosen a successful course topic is to ASK your audience. As a course creator and business coach, I speak to many clients that want me to design a beautiful online course however they have not taken the time to test it out to make sure the topic is validated.

The best way to test your course topic is to do market research. Here are two ways that you can connect with your audience to determine if your course topic is of value:

  • Create a poll: Even with little or no audience you can connect with your ideal clients on social media (i.e. Facebook Groups) and ask what they think about your topic. This is a sure-fire way to find out if there is any interest and if you are headed in the right direction.

  • Conduct Interviews: With your course topic in mind create a list of questions and ask your ideal clients if you can have a quick 15-minute chat about the topic. This gives you valuable insight into what their pain points are and how you can create your course around solving their problem.

Build Your Course Outline

Now that you have validated your course topic it's time to start building out your course outline. Notice that I did not say building out your course (wink wink).

Your course outline should be built on taking your members through 4-8 milestones to reaching their ultimate transformation. By allowing your members to solve smaller goals ( or pain points) you are showing them that they can reach the goals they aim for and to keep going!

The key is to tailor your course outline around solving the problems that you have learned from the research you have done to understand your audience. You will be giving them EXACTLY what they asked for which makes choosing to purchase your course a no-brainer!

Launch Your Course Live

Finally, you will want to launch your course with live sessions. Interacting with your members will give you actual insight into how your content is being relayed to your audience and how you can improve your content going forward.

Make sure to record your content so you can create an evergreen course that can be used for your next launch. You'll want to also make updates to any content that didn't land well during your first launch.

Creating a Fail-Proof Online Course is about focusing your attention on providing actual results. While you may have an idea of what your target audience wants to see, getting up close and personal with them allows you to build relationships and tailor your course to fit their needs.
